Just got back from this trip and had an amazing time. The schedule was great and well balanced between activities and chill time. My fitness is very average but I found all the activities very doable. The hike up to Pulpit Rock was a highlight, just make sure you continue up a bit higher to get the best views of the fjord and the rock itself. The packing list suggestions may look long but I used every single item (just don’t overpack as everything needs to fit in the kayaks and it’s a tight squeeze!). You can still bring suitcases and then leave them in the van until you depart, bringing everything into the kayak to camp in your dry bags. Finally a big shout out to Sebastian who was an amazing guide. He gave really clear instructions on the schedule and hiking/kayaking tips, constantly made sure everyone was okay, and was generally a really chilled and funny guy. I massively recommend this tour.

I had the most amazing experience with the guys at Nordic Paddling. The whole 4 day trip was well organized and the kit provided was really good quality. Our guide Sebastian was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and made what was a challenging trip for me really enjoyable and achievable. I loved every minute of this and would do it all again next weekend if I could. Can’t recommend this enough.

Had the best time on this great 4 day trip. The whole time it felt like the best school journey( for adults obviously). Our group were so much fun and we were lucky enough to have got great weather our guide Ben was very encouraging with each and everyone of us, he did a fabulous job of getting us to each of the lodges. Big thank you to Ben. . The accommodation was great fun too. The only downer was the lunch from the first lodge in Italy, it was diabolical!

This was a great trip from start to finish. Hiking so good i cant even choose the best bits! Scenery was absolutely stunning, met a great group of people and had so many laughs. Ben our guide was great, set a nice steady pace and kept us all going and eventually caught on to the Irish sense of humour - Would have to give him 5 stars *****. Have definitely made memories for life and would absolutely recommend. I will do another trip with Skyhooks in the future as everything was taken care off and went so smoothly. Thanks for an epic holiday!

What a wonderful trip, from beginning to end! What was best about it all? The people who shared the experience, the guides who looked after us or the sites and scenery that we were able to take in? I can’t decide which made the trip special but it all came together lovely. I have forgotten the hard ground, whilst camping and the wet feet during launching. We are still thrilled at the joy of achievement the journey and completing the 100km adventure, thank you Skyhook !

Amazing 5 days, an adventure which is why I boooked the trip. Our guides Sam and Kam from Goodtogo adventures where fantastic guides and kept our sprits high and very well fed and watered. I had the most amazing time. Sam was a brilliant guide and everything worked out perfectly, including the weather! The group was lovely too, which helped and the food was astonishing, given the cooking equipment. I used to hate camping but I loved wild camping in Scotland - it's a unique experience - and I was so proud to paddle the Great Glen. I'll be back with my jealous observers from social media boasting posts!

Overall it was a very nice experience. Some problems arised with a local company at a last minute and we are very grateful to Skyhook fox fixing everything. At the very end we were traveling with Ashante tours and they were very welcoming and accomodating. Umbwe route is said to be very difficult. Personally for us it was not a case as we were expecting a bigger challenge. I believe the other travelers, especially the ones with some hiking experience should not be discouraged by it. On the first 2 days we were alone on the route, which was really nice and rewarding.

My canoe trip with Sam from Good 2 Go was amazing. I had high expectations and it lived up to them. Sam and Cam were excellent guides and great cooks. Sam had great knowledge and helped us improve our canoeing skills. Both he and Cam made sure we stayed safe, while ensuring we had a great all-round experience and timed the stops and camps carefully so we could take some time out to relax, but also complete this epic adventure. I can't recommend highly enough.

First of all we had a lovely time. Very kind people in our group, great hikes. However, we felt that our guide was a bit in a hurry. Sometimes he walked 100-200 m before the first one of our group. And if the last one arrived, most of the time we had to go on immediately. (We were not the last one though, but still.) There were some “level varieties” in our group, so we understand that you can’t go as one group the whole time. But, a better plan one forehand would have give us a more pleasant time.

Trip planning and the logistics with Skyhook was good; information was thorough and relatively accurate. Vert Lodge was excellent. The hike route was well planned. Despite the information provided by Skyhook, a different guide Nicolas met us on the start day. Nicolas was knowledgeable and was willing, most times, over the duration of the hike to answer questions and offer information about the mountain and the hiking logistics. My group had a few less experienced and less fit hikers than I would have expected on a trip like this; one hiker was removed by Nicolas after the first day (rightfully). I sensed a "couldn't care less" attitude and lack of personal engagement (waiting to be asked rather than offering information about timings, coordination). For those of us who kept up and were at the front of the pack, we benefitted from his engagement and I would say it was a good trip. However, for the women and for those who required more time to keep up, I would argue Nicolas requires additional education and training. As a father and a former soldier who has spent time in the mountains and leading groups, I would not recommend your company to my daughter or female counterparts.

The view was amazing, the group was great, the guide rushed a bit trough the trip so it was almost no time to take photos and enjoy the view. And those that walked a bit slow was left behind alone in the back with 10-15 min gap to the group (no breaks for the slow walkers). Luckely the group was good and took fare of those left behind and everyone reached the goal. Maybe a diffrent guide would have made the trip 100%.

Fantastic trip organised via Skyhook. The whole 5 days were very well organised, all by local people. Picked up from my Riad at Marrakech by Hassan who was very informative and kind. We forgot our head torches for the mountain climb and Hassan was kind enough to get two from his home for us to borrow. We then met Mustapha our guide at Imlil for the two day hike up the mountain. Also there was Ilbrahim, our muleteer who took care of our bags for the trip up. Mustapha clearly knew this trek so well and the first day hike to the refuge/ base camp was pleasant with great views, lots of stops for drink. Lunch was made on the mountain by Ilbrahim who created such a lovely meal, displayed like any good restaurant could have done but with minimal cooking equipment on his mule. Amazing and there was always more than enough to eat. The night was spent in base camp, with another huge dinner and a time to relax with other fellow hikers on the same climb. The next morning was an early start (0500 walking start) after a great breakfast provided. The hike up to the summit was about 3-3.5 hours and I have to say was not as easy as I thought it would be. You do need a decent level of fitness and leg strength to get you up. I’m 51 and run regularly and found I had to put a lot of effort in to get there. Mustapha was always there checking to see I was ok and providing lots of breaks and encouragement. I found it quite emotional when I reached the top with my son and it was a moment I will never forget. There was a group hug of me, my son and Mustapha. Lots of photos at the summit and then the long walk back down to Imlil with lunch again in between, provided by the best cook/muleteer Ibrahim in the most scenic of places in the mountains. That night was spent at Mustapha’s family guest house which was clean and comfortable with a great dinner and breakfast provided. Mustapha took us down to a cafe in Imlil to show us this village and his own where we had a drink and watched the life of the village go by. So interesting for someone who has never experienced a Berber village. Day 3 we were picked up by Hassan again and the trip to the desert began. On the way Hassan stopped off to show us a market brimming with people looking to buy a sheep/ goat for Eid. This was an amazing experience. The trip took us to Ait Benhaddou, Ouarzazate and ending up in Dades Valley. That night was spent in a fantastic Berber family hotel. A great air conditioned room with lovely views of the valley and a fantastic dinner. We were then blessed by the owner and all of his family playing music/songs to just me and my son and Hassan, where we later joined in on the drums. This was a family proud to be Berber and willing to show that they want to share in everything they have and do. The memories of us playing together I will always remember with happiness. The next day we were taken by Hassan to Todra Gorge which was amazing to see. A mini Grand Canyon. A stop off at a woman cooperative for making/selling carpets was next which was ok. There was no obligation to buy but it can be difficult to say no when you are the only customer there. That said my son bought a small rug for £100 which is a lot of money but it will hopefully last a lifetime , is hand made and supports the local people so we were happy to do this. We could have said no if we did not want it. Next was a long drive to Merzouga through a lot of desert. There are a lot of towns/villages on the way and you now feel you are in the desert wilderness. It is a long drive so make sure you purchase a lot of water for the drive. Lunch stop at a restaurant and good value for a 3 course meal for £10. We arrived early at our hotel meeting point to pick up the camels and after a mint tea were gifted the use of the hotels swimming pool. This was amazing and when the temp was around 45-47 degrees was heaven sent. Our bags taken by car to the desert camp we were then transported by camel for a great trek through the desert at sunset. I’ve done a few camel trips in the past, including Cairo pyramids but this was so much better. The staff working the camel trip and camp were very welcoming. Remember it is a tourist attraction but they do so well making you feel you are living in the desert. The camels take you to your camp where we had our own ensuite tent with shower, sink and toilet. We were there at one of the hottest times with the evening temp still around the late 30’s and you need to remember there is no escaping that heat, so be prepared. Hassan will stop at a cooperative for clothing and head scarves enroute where you can buy for the desert if you wish but the scarves were £25 each so might be worth bringing your own if you do not want to spend that amount of money. Evening at the camp consisted of a 3 course meal followed by a drum party by the staff. We were quite tired at this point as it was a long day of travelling and I’m not sure I would recommend this part for young children. It might be easier at cooler times of the year. My son and myself got up early for the sunrise which was good and we then had the choice of the camel ride back (90 mins) or a 15 min 4x4 ride. As we had a long drive back we decided on the 4x4. The drive back to Marrakech was very long (approx 10.5 hours) with a stop for lunch. This was a bit of an endurance in such heat and again I would not recommend this for those who are not prepared to sit in a car for so long in that heat. We did see some sights on the way back of local towns and villages as Hassan took us on a different route so it would be interesting. We finally arrived back in Marrakech for around 1830. A cold shower awaited in our Riad which was much needed. Mustapaha, Ibrahim and Hassan were fantastic. All are Berber (Amazigh) and are so kind and will do anything to make sure the trip is the best they can give. I’m 51 and my son is 20. This was a great trip for us both with so many lifetime memories. One of the main aspects I will take away is the kindness of the Berber people. These are local people trying to make a good living to provide for their families and they will always want to make sure you have the greatest experience. Thanks to Mustapha, Ibrahim and Hassan, we truly did. Highly recommended.

This trip was amazing! Our guide Akis was great & pacing us up the mountain & getting us comfortable with the climb. My only improvement is to Skyhook’s list of things to bring. I brought a full sleeping bag when I was able instead to rent sheets at the refuges. That was a lot of weight to bring with me to Greece that was unnecessary. Also, Akis required hiking boots but the Skyhook list said that tennis shoes or trail shoes were OK. I didn’t bring my hiking boots so had to buy some in Greece less than a week before the start of the trip.

From the beginning at booking almost a year ago till we finished our canoe trip the comms with Steve at scottish rock and water was exceptional. Its hard to leave a review that is not just all glowing and can instead give constructive feedback ..... With that in mind the below is a brain dump. 1 - booking - was painless - we had people swap in and out over the year without issue. 2- food- The entire trip was catered, we had alternate hot cold breakfasts, wraps for lunch and hot evening meal all cooked with the groups dietary challenges in mind ( veggie and myself who was allergic to tomato). There was more than enough food coffee tea and hot chocolate. Only possible constructive i would give on this would be dont forget the tea bags :P ( in group joke) 3- activity - the canoe trip had all sorts of weather wind rain waves the lot. Laura our trip guide was exceptional at motivating us when we needed to dig deep to get across a swell and at the same times with humour and banter to keep spirits up. Her water skills are exceptional and i highly recommend you request Laura if she is available. Her knowledge of where to make camp based on the weather etc was paramount to our success in getting across Ness. Even if we did have to bail at times :P. Taking into account various team members physical ability or experience Laura ensured we felt able to push hard when needed. 4 - kit - we brought our own crash mats but other than that everything else was provided by Scottish rock and water. in terms of personal kit i would recommend scuba boots and seal skin socks, dont forget your sun block, a tick remover, dry bags for inside the barrels since the barrels are not water tight. A Battery pack for cameras and phones recharge and most important a snack bag in a dry bag for munchies when on the water. in terms of midge we used smidge and avon skin so soft. 5- Portage - think the itinerary mentions one or two portage on day 1 or such. in reality there are quite a few. on one day there were 3 portage ( all short distance) on another there were one or two long ish portages. Everyone grouped up 4 to a canoe to get them over so dont worry.

Travelled on: National 3 Peaks Challenge (24 Hours)
(Jul 2022)
Me and my friend booked to take part in the National three peaks challenge with Skyhook. My friend sadly became seriously ill just over a month before we were due to do the hike, resulting in her being unable to participate in the event. We contacted Skyhook on a few occasions asking to move the date until a future date next year, or failing that, for them to refund us (and offered to show evidence of my friends medical condition). They refused.. even though they were advertising a ‘waiting list’ for spaces on our hike! So it was likely that they could have tried to replace us! But no effort to. On the back of that, we decided to still go along on the trip for the ‘journey’ (but not taking part in the hike, instead just did our own thing at each stop) as we insisted we didn’t want to lose £720 just like that! From our experience the tour guide (Josh) was great, very friendly and cooperative with the whole group. Him and the drivers made this trip. There are a few more negatives to mention; 1. the bus driver was provided with slightly different pick up locations to the hikers (which I’m presuming was Skyhooks mess up), causing confusion at the start of the drive, putting us behind on time at the very beginning. 2. We were not informed by Skyhook that our personal belongings would be put into a ‘trailer’ for the whole journey and not on the actual bus with us. This wouldn’t be too bad but the trailer was falling to bits! And just before we approached the last mountain the driver was forced to stop at a services because the trailer had become loose and started sparking! We then all had to squeeze our luggage etc onto the bus and continue the onwards journey (this stop put us behind at least another half an hour…). Quite annoying for the hikers to say they were racing the clock, with this being a 24 hour challenge. 3. Although me and my friend didn’t take part in the hike, we felt there should have been more than 1 tour guide on the trip, as normally if you have hikers of slightly different levels/experience, one would stay with the slower walkers and the other in front with the more capable. This meant that some of the hikers were left to walk on their own if they wanted to go at their own fast pace. Shame we can’t say many positives but the biggest thing for us was how Skyhook unacceptably dealt with us given the circumstances around my friends sudden health scare. We are both keen hikers and when we initially found this company online we thought about using them on a regular for a number of trips we had in mind, but already we’ve talked people out of doing so! It’s the tour guides and drivers (external members) that seem to make these trips worthwhile, not Skyhook themselves! THINK BEFORE YOU BUY!!!
Travelled on: National 3 Peaks Challenge (24 Hours)
(Jul 2022)
I can honestly say that it was not good. The trailer that was used looked like a self-made one. It broke on the highway throwing sparks and the driver kept driving with it. The driving was reckless and it felt unsafe as we were thrown around in the minibus taking on the Scottish and north English roads in the night. I did not feel safe on the road. Bathroom breaks were scares and it meant that hydration was to monitored as we didn't know when we would be able to use a toilet. The briefings were few and only given to a few of the participants. The guide was unable to keep us together as a group but didn't focus on the people in the back. I was asked to turn around because I was stopping to ensure another hiker was keeping up as he had an injured knee. The calculations of the time was a strange one as no one made it on time but there was a lot of fiddling trying to get it below 24 hours. We started just before 8 am on Ben Nevis and no one completed at 8 am on Snowdon. Someone had a hurt knee and there was really no attending to it. Having to wait for the rest of the group for 5 hours near Snowdon. I would have rather waited on the first train at the station to get home. We were not given that option. It was overall a poor experience. I love hiking Mountains and I do that all over the world. My aim was to get some rocks under my feet before I head off to do Kilimanjaro. Please don't waste your money on this it's not worth a twisted knee or ankle. Go somewhere and enjoy your hike. I will not be recommending

The trip got off to a bumpy start with a few minor hiccups, a key snapping in the lock of the van and the second guide not being with us from the start which led to things being a little unorganised and not having a full health and safety run through or formal introductions. This didn't hinder us getting to know each other as we quickly all be came acquainted and enjoyed our time together and with Lizzy. Beth our other leader on the other hand was not friendly and quite frankly ruined the experience for the whole group, if she hadn't joined the trip at all it would have been so much better. She constantly interrupted Lizzy who would be providing us with interesting and useful information, she was rude to nearly everyone in the group and basically treated us like children, to the point she wouldn't leave out a lighter for the first people who would be awake to make hot drinks. It became apparent to the group the working relationship between Lizzy and Beth was quite strained at times at no fault to Lizzy. Towards the end of the trip it was a group consensus we all would have preferred Billy the support guy to have joined us as he was extremely friendly and a laugh when he would join us at stop off's to provide more supplies. We were aware that Beth has ADHD and some of her behaviour can be result of this condition however, I do not believe all her actions can be blamed on this and I do not think she should be in a customer facing role. Lizzy did speak with us individually for our feedback and unfortunately it wasn't positive for the above reasons. I personally wouldn't recommend Sky Hook based on this experience but would recommend booking a trip like this as it was beautiful and the group of people I was with were great and I have made some great friends. If you would like to discuss my review in further detail please do not hesitate to contact me. Kind regards Charlotte King

What an experience! The scenery was spectacular and the group were the best bunch of people I could have wished to have spent 5 days wild camping and canoeing with. Lizzie and Blodyn were wonderful, Lizzie is so knowledgeable and shared so many interesting historical facts on the trip as well as being an excellent instructor and just a genuinely wonderful and inspirational lady. I could chat to her for hours, she is a real asset to your company. Billy was great too, bubbly and fun, interesting and entertaining. I think had the trip had been run by Billy and Lizzie it would have been wonderful. Sadly our other guide Beth was not of equal standard. Beth frequently spoke to the group as if we were naughty school kids, she was rude and patronising. She would talk over the group and show off, constantly shifting the focus onto herself. She would confuse the group by constantly changing instructions then tell us off for doing the wrong thing. Knowing the group were early risers she would not ensure the brew making equipment was available even if this had been requested by the group. Lizzie did lots of the background work alone, Beth certainly did not contribute to the same level. On the last day our taxi to fort William was over an hour late but we did not create even though we were all exhausted and just wanted to start our onward travel. Beth was in the group heading to Inverness, her only focus was catching her connecting train, she frequently and sternly mentioned this to her group and told them not to faff about and to get into the taxi as soon as it arrives. Again it was all about her and not about the group. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but as we are at the beginning of the season hopefully you can find a better guide to support Lizzie to make future trips better for Lizzie, Blodyn, Billy and the future participants.

Interesting and occasionally challenging trip across Scotland by canoe via lochs and canals. We were a bit unlucky with the weather but I still really enjoyed it. The scenery was great. A positive mindset and being prepared to "muck in" really helps to get the most out of this trip.

Sleeping arrangements were uncomfortable for a bed dweller like myself. One of the guides wasn't the best to put it politely, but to be fair the other two were great. The weather was against us and next level wet at times, this meant a reduction in our paddling time and I came home with two tick hitchhikers, but I loved it. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The scenery was beautiful, even when it was peeing down. There is not a picture that can do it a speck of justice. I was with a great group of people, we bonded really well and had a proper giggle together. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

This trip has so much potential to be an amazing adventure - the scenery was absolutely stunning and being out on the water in the loch was incredible. Unfortunately though, as noted by a couple of other reviews from our group below, as a group we agreed this experience fell very short, and in our case, we left a day and a half early. Our primary issue was a lack of structure and leadership throughout the trip. It felt, for the most part, that there was little to no communication between trip leaders/guides both before and during the trip. As a result, plans, safety briefings, tutorials, and goals were very poorly communicated to the group, if at all. This meant in some cases we spent as little as two hours a day on the water during fair weather, as opposed to the six in the itinerary, and made the instructions we did receive often frustrating when a prior tutorial hadn’t occurred. We very much appreciate that the nature of outdoor adventures means plans will always change, and often at the last minute, but feel it should be expected for the guides to have communicated the initial goals of the day to the group each day before setting off, any changes as needed, and the suggested duration of stop-offs to help manage the expectations of the group and keep motivations high. Very often there was no plan conveyed throughout the entire day. It would also have been useful have an agreed leadership structure for the guide team beforehand, to avoid conflict. Overall, this lead to an incredibly frustrating experience, with little structure, canoeing or information, which led us to leave the trip a day and a half early. Upon our return from the trip, our entire group was emailed personally by Skyhook asking for details and offering credit, however since sending this feedback we have heard nothing from them. We can see this has the potential to be an amazing trip – the scenery is truly stunning, the availability of food (and that they were willing to take last minute requests) exceeded our expectations and the equipment provided was perfect for the job. We didn’t even have too much bother from the midges! Ultimately, I think we were unlucky with the team who ran this particular trip, as I can see many others had a wonderful experience!

I appreciate that the weather can change plans. While it was disappointing not to complete the trip I felt that my major concern was that there was a general lack of group leadership and one guide managed to marginalise some, if not all, of the group participants. Billy as the stand in head guide driving the support vehicle was extremely good. Had he travelled with the group in the canoes I believe that we would have learned more canoeing skills and made the whole experience more enjoyable.

From start to finish this trip was amazing. The communication from Houssain via What’s app prior to arrival to ensure I knew of the pick up, hospitality in the Riad and food was humbling. Just finished this amazing trip. From start to finish I had complete confidence in the brilliant guide Sam who was so knowledgeable, calm , and encouraging. Food was excellent, we were extremely well catered for, and had plenty of brew stops, with snacks along the way. The wild camping was an experience in itself and we stayed in some beautiful locations. The whole five days was an absolute pleasure, though obviously hard at times, I feel like I’ve truly achieved something. If thinking about this trip I’d advise you to go for it. One top tip though, a mosquito net for your head is absolutely essential 😃

Completed the challenge yesterday and had a fabulous time only did two peaks as fell coming back down from Ben Nevis , fell on a boulder bruised my ribs . The care I received from Darren was 100 percent and because of his experience and kindness got to go up Snowden. Both drivers and leader were there every step of the way from the time they picked us up till they dropped us off , they were so experienced and made us all feel at ease and capable of doing anything .I will be booking again and hoping to complete all three next time but would want this leader when I take part. I would however encourage skyhook to be more involved before hand and offer dinner upon arrival the night before. I found there were two sides to this trip the skyhook one where they took the money and that’s it and the hiking leaders side who know how to take care of hikers with age and different abilities to a group . His experience and care was fantastic and that’s the only reason I would book again . Both drivers kept us going and making us laugh and although they were driving were part of the group. I would give them 100% stars and skyhook 50%. Thank you all for making a lasting memories.

We enjoyed the Matterhorn highlights trip, the distances/heights per day were well balanced. All the huts were clean, staff were helpful and the food was excellent. Highly recommend the AlpsAdventures Matterhorn Highlights tour. An unforgettable experience from beginning to end. The transfer from Geneva airport to Randa by train was seamless with stunning views of Lake Geneva and an adventure even before the tour began! Tom Brodie, our tour guide provided an impeccably organised itinerary with challenging walking routes (all doable with a reasonable level of fitness) and breathtaking views of the mountains. His knowledge of the wildlife and fauna was extensive and we spotted many indigenous species including the Chamois Deer, Marmotts and the elusive wild Edelweiss. We crossed suspension bridges and swam in one of the many wonderful lakes. The accommodation within the mountain huts was exceptional and the food was plentiful and of a incredibly high standard. We shared the tour with lovely likeminded people and swapped many photos all of which told a tale and will make me smile for years to come. Cannot recommend more highly.

This was an awesome trip. Faultless Organisation and can’t praise the guide enough(Lachan). Was on my own for group which has both plus and minus so pick whatever suits. Great value. Big tip, if you arrive in Marrakech early book a room for day so you can drop bags have a shower etc. When I arrived I contacted my Riad to use room for a day. Another tip, you don’t need more than a day in Marrakech! The first day is a 6 hour trek up to refuge. Guide takes steady to acclimatize. Next day is an alpine start, 3.30 breakfast, away for 4. Again a great alpine pace, slowly but constantly as many groups on a stop go ascent having no rhythm.Three hours to top. Rewarded with sunrise. Had a little light head and a bit nauseas but that is to be expected with altitude gain. Six/seven hours descent dependent on tea shop stops. 12 hour day and ready for a shower. Do a few long days in the mountains first and you will be fit to do this. So, if you like a test for an epic, this is your trip. Go for it. You wont regret it. Where to next Mr Skyhook?***** rated.

From start to finish the organisation and guidance was fantastic. The experience I gained from this memorable in many ways, and was fortunate to be part of something unique. The team were friendly, fun and a pleasure to be with. Everyone had a fantastic time and got to know each other during this event. The 3 peaks themselves were breathtaking views and was incredible seeing them in such a short period of time. My favourite was Ben Nevis as it was something I always wanted to climb and never disappointed. Snowden was the most challenging peak due to the adverse weather conditions. It was mentally, physically challenging for us all and as a team we got through it. Charlie our mountain leader was ammense in all ways and can't fault his performance. He was approachable, fun, friendly and lead us well. Charlie also educated us all on all the peaks, the challenges ahead etc and was helpful and for that I am grateful. Fantastic event and recommend to anyone. Thank you Aron Stoker

Fantastic 4-day hiking around part of the TMB circuit. If you're lucky with the mountain weather, the views are simply stunning. Our walk leader Ben was brilliant from start to finish, making sure we were all safe and knew exactly what to do. At times the trail is steep and challenging but the rewards are worth every step. The scenery is awesome everywhere you look. If you've ever thought about Alpine walking, then stop thinking and book it. Fantastic trip across Scotland! Equipment provided was good, guides (Jim and James) were excellent with vast knowledge and experience of the weather, the local area, the good camping spots etc. There is a fair amount of lifting equipment in and out of boats/water but I'm definitely not at my fittest and found all fine...may be harder for those with reduced mobility. Instruction and tuition on paddling was great and we all worked well together as a group. The camping sites are very rustic (as I expected) if you don't like the thought of sleeping near a toilet or shower every night, this isn't the trip for you! There were however opportunities to use toilet facilities at most Locks and there were showers at Fort Augustus and our final camp stop along Loch Ness. All in all, a fantastic experience, beautiful scenery, a great bunch of like minded people and a very well organised trip. Wouldn't hesitate to book!!

Excellent trip! Loved every minute. Incredible scenery which needs to be seen to be believed, and to be so close to it by traveling in a kayak was worth every ounce of effort. The hike was lovely too, with lakes en-route to cool off in, and the rock at the top having amazing views. My only comments would be - - why not leave the camping gear at the campsite, since you have a building there, rather than guests having to pack it up and transport it there and back for every trip? It's all part of the experience was the reason given by our guide, however we all agreed we would not have felt we missed out on anything if the cooking pots and pans were already at the campsite! - Tents are incredibly tiny. I was a lone traveller so had one to myself and that was just about adequate. If two people were sharing one and the weather was bad, I can envisage wet gear because no way could two people AND two peoples gear fit in there. Pay the single supplement would be my advise! Great food, Knowlegeable, friendly guide, and on the whole a thoroughly enjoyable trip :)

Mixed feelings. Really enjoyed the experience. The chalets were as expected and we were happy with the rooms and food, but we were expecting them to be more remote, going by the photos on the website. There were a few things that could have been explained a bit clearer, like the piece where the luggage is transported from chalet to chalet. This wasn't clear in the iternery and definitely would have changed the way we packed for the trip. Some things on the item list to bring should have been down as optional. Then some things like PJs and pain medicines could be added as a reminder. These things wouldn't put me off booking with Skyhook again but I hope you use this review to improve the service for others.

The heavy rain and wind made the trip (believe it or not) even more memorable, because we felt even more accomplished after doing the crossing on kayak. Recommendation: try to train a bit your arms and shoulders. You will need it for this trip. And also don’t forget that it is not just a kayak trip but also a wild camp trip. Been back fir a week now from an amazing trip . The guides Paul Crystal and Vicky were absolutely wonderful, especially Crystal who helped me through a difficult day, due to the insane heat. I would say that your level of fitness needs to be higher than mentioned on the tour info, especially if its really hot. The heat is a big factor when you are walking up some very steep inclines with a large ruck sack. Also the food on the second evening was pretty awful ( they served Smash ) and there wasn't enough to go around either. All in all though it was a wonderful experience, well organised, good value for money and I met some lovely people too. 😊

What a memorable adventure it was!!! Just got back from the 4-day Mont Blanc trip and it was simply amazing. Especially our 3 guides (Christel, Paul, and Vicky) were so professional, caring, and fun. This was my first adventure with skyhooks and for sure many more to come.

Fantastic trip! Guides (Paul and Cristal) knowledgable, professional but also friendly and encouraging to the whole group and made the experience very special indeed. The scenery is spectacular, each day quite different. Distances and timing well-judged to be challenging but achievable for all. Advice given re kit was perfect (keep it light!). Food stops on the mountains were particularly lovely. Already planning another trip 😁

Fabulous trip, the weather threw everything at us but Sam and Geoff our guides were amazing. Options for us to use different methods of Canoe travel to keep us safe - even sailing up Loch Ness. Food was delicious and plentiful and James the support driver was on hand . Highly recommended, challenging fun. Clare and Suzy.

Very enjoyable trip but not exactly as described. I'm grateful that the trip ran with only me and another couple. The advantage was that we all were high energy, nobody slowed down the group and we were all interested in similar things. We also all fit into one vehicle with a wonderful driver. However, only after arriving at the harbor did we learn that we didn't have enough people to take a boat to the cave we were supposed to explore--so the day's activity was jut a swim at the beach and a bit of snorkeling. The pack rafting was in a stunning canyon that opened on to farm land and we had an amazing lunch at a farm where the couple had prepared a feast of almost all homegrown food. However, the actual paddle was only about an hour. There was a lot of driving--the plus side being that we saw a lot of the country, the downside was a lot of sitting in a vehicle. The hikes were longer and to a cool cave and to a shrine on a mountain top. Our guide was an ever optimistic, energetic young man who has worked hard to become qualified in everything from kayaking to canyoneering to paragliding. The only problem was that, a few times, he apparently didn't get the memo from the local tour company that had contracted him--fortunately, he could call them but that was sometimes after the fact of a problem. Skyhook contracted out the local tour company--maybe too many connections, like a game of telephone. But overall, the accommodations, care and concern, food, good company, etc was great. But for a trip titled "Active Albania" it was a bit light on some of the activity. Apparently it's advertised as 5-85 yrs but perhaps it should really be marketed as 15-70 (where exceptions can be made) and I would have loved to add canyoneering into the mix!

Amaaaaaazzzinggg. Had such a great time. Smiling to myself when recalling some of the memories. Our guide Dan "the Dane", "Kayak Man", "Fisherman Dan" was brilliant. Great balance of being laissez faire enough that we all felt comfortable and not rushed but also assertive when necessary to make us feel safe. The itinerary definitely requires a lot of logistics on their part yet the result is seemless and provides a brilliant, varied experience offering the adjustment to camping and all that comes with it, hiking, paddling and for us fishing in the fjords. I left tempted to become a guide and getting to do it all the time.

Overall the trip was fantastic. Our guide, Dan was excellent! Friendly, informative and always in control. For anyone considering this trip, please understand that it's much tougher & wilder than appears from description, but not to any detriment to the trip. Just be prepared! The only downside was the trek to Preikestolen. Far too many other people on the whole route, many of whom were not properly equipped nor physically up to the trek. This meant lots of waiting around and getting stuck behind large groups. As bad a Snowdon route can get at peak times! My suggestion would be to modify the trip so a very early morning start can be accommodated allowing completion by around 10am. Final note, at the end of the last day it would be really useful to have access to showers in preparation for flying home, if only for the sake of other passengers! Otherwise, a fantastic trip!

This hike was not for beginners, and there should be an alternative for those who are not fit enough, already on the first day, maybe on the half way. Our poor beginners ruined the hike for other hikers, because they did not quit the hike early enough. So it should be easy to quit or to shorten the hike. Skyhook should have another hike for beginners. I enjoyed this hikes views and the route very much. This was a good route for me. The accommodations and the food was great, allthou the guide did not give us the meat nor the cheese on the second day. Only the couscous and the apple. Luckily I had some salty mandels for myself. The guide helped the poor two fat and slow girls the first day but the other days the helpers were the other hikers. Our guide was wery friendly and nice the first day, but maybe because of the stress he was quite rude after that and it was a bit unpleasant to ask any questions after that. He knows the Mountain well and maybe he is at his best on the running tours.

(Jun 2022)
The hike was not a beginners hike, even though you might get that impression from the description. We had 2 participants that were beginners and who were not equipped properly for the hike. This spoiled the hike for the rest since we spent 25-30% of the time waiting and as a consequence the days were not 5-7 h as announced, but more like 10-11 hours. Due to this we weren`t in time for dinner and on the evenings we just had time to eat and go to bed immidiately. The guide was very competent, but not suitable to guide beginners. He was also from time to time rude and unfriendly towards the participants. When asking questions, he could answer by saying ”Do you question my compentece” even if you just wanted to talk. The participants had to help the weakest ones since the guide didn`t. We also had an incident with one participant that collapsed. The guide did`t notice this. It was the partipants that became worried due to one missing and only after that the guide started to look for her. It took such a long time that another hiker alarmed for help. It seems that there was no plan B for how to cope with hikers not fit enough to do the hike. The lodging was nice and dinner fine. The tour itself was spectacular. Maybe we were unlucky to end up in a group with participants not fit for this kind of hike. But due to this fact, the hike was not the experience I had hoped for.

Overall the trip was unfortunately a disappointment. There were some excellent times but it was overshadowed by too much downtime, moving equipment back and forth and not enough time on the water. Also the purpose of the trip was to Canoe across Scotland which is weather dependent but we never got close to this and apparently 70% of trips do it which I think should be stated in the advertising. Also the food was very disappointing and more clear recipes should be provided to the guides rather than allowing them to cook which is clearly not their skill set.

Thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We didn't get to do the whole distance which was expected due to weather conditions but what we did do along with the wild camping was an enjoyable experience. My dietary needs were well catered for, the leaders were friendly and extremely knowledgable about the activity. The most gruelling part was actually lugging the canoes and kit but this was all part of it. Definitely advise to think of bringing what you need and then cutting that by a third as you have to carry it over the while break and it feels heavier every day🤣 I would recommend this trip to others.

Wonderful and knowledgable guides Liz and Jim kept us all safe and in high spirits , keeping us well fed at night and taught us all we needed to navigate the canal and choppy loch water. The wild camp spots were excellent and you truly get a feel of being immersed in the wild along Loch Ness. Sadly we didn’t do the whole route due to the variability of chop on the water and the need to keep us safe but we still had a great time over the 5 days with a river visit to falls on the last morning. You should be aware that a high proportion of trips never make the whole way due to the unpredictability ,difficulty and of course danger level of the water in the lochs which is completely understandable especially as beginners. Overall as a novice canoeist it was a great introduction with a great bunch of people and excellent guides whom i simply could not have done this without. Highly recommended

The trip was absolutely amazing. Four great hikes, the first 2 days were quite challenging and the last 2 days were not as challenging but the views were phenomenal. This may not be the most beginner friendly hike, certain level of fitness is required, especially for the first 2 days. Our guide Lydee was equally amazing, very knowledgeble, friendly and took care of the group well. The accommodations were as described in the FAQs, hotels/ mountain huts with hot water and good/ok food, and ocassionally no signal, but always came with great views. One issue was that there was no communication by the company regarding the meeting point on the first day so it was a bit confusing and chaotic trying to find a meeting point. Besides this, rest of the trip was 5 stars for me.

The trip was amazing but the trekking was very strenuous, you need to have a high level of fitness to do this. My knees gave out and I had to abandon the trip after day two. Very well organised, but night two we could have had the option of a private room for 40 euros more. Food was substandard. You need cash and night two had no wifi or cellular access. Starting point is in Les Houches so you are better staying there than Verte Lodge as suggested, all buses are free in resort. Our guide was amazing and we met some wonderful people, the views were spectacular, wish we could have done all four days.

We had the best time on this trip. We are already looking at booking another. Our guides Sam and James were welcoming, fun and super knowledgeable. We felt safe and sound despite high winds and rain. Wild camping was fun and all of the equipment provided was great. The scenery and views were spectacular. The food options were great. A mixture of porridge, pastries, bacon rolls and traditional Scottish lorne in a roll for breakfast. Sandwiches or wraps and soup for lunch and then a hot meal in the evening which Sam and James cooked for us. It really was a break from every day life no TV, emails or phones ringing.

This was one of the best experiences of my life. The group that I met was so much fun and our guide, Anna was amazing. From the moment we were collected at the airport until we left on the final day everything was organized and provided. The additional dry suits made everything so much better as we barely got wet during the kayaking days. 1. A well designed and unique route: - The water route to Nærøyfjord is accessible by cruise/boat. Kayaking along the fjord definitely opens up many hidden treasures, like waterfalls, villages, birds, seals etc. The kayak route covered both fingers of the fjord, which has their own beauty. By kayaking, we can land on some very good waterfront camping site by the fjord. - The vehicle road accesses only a small part of the fjord. Where we started hiking can be accessed from water route by kayak. The hiking destination is Breiskrednosi, where you can have a panaromic view overlooking at the fjord from 1177m high. Some parts of the route is privately owned, so there are less tourists traces. We hiked along streams, through farm lands, trails and snow covered slopes/plateaus. En route, there are also beautiful villages, waterfalls, lakes, valleys, mountains. The roundtrip length is around 23km. If driving then hiking, the hike would be from Bakka to Breiskrednosi via Rimstigen, with round trip length of 2x15km=30km. 2. A thought-through combination of outdoor activities: - The trip is 3-day long. The first day we kayaked 11km for about 6 hours. The second day we hiked 23km for about 9 hours. The third day we kayaked again for another 12km for about 6 hours. The arms and legs were used evenly during the trip at different time. So we don’t feel so exhausted. The pace is relatively easy, suitable for even beginners. - If you are hardcore outdoor adventurers, you may find the trip a bit relaxed. But you can spend your extra energy to explore other spots, like kayaking into waterfalls, diving into fjords, sliding on snow. The guide is quite flexible but with safety as 1st thing in mind. 3. Comfortable camping site: The waterfront camping site is right ashore the fjord with mountain stream flowing by the side and mountain slope on the back. The site is privately owned with all possible facilities, clean bathroom, shower, kitchen, covered picnic, and grill. Something particular about this trip is that the concept is to create first class camping experience for the participants. So, if you are looking for hardcore wild camping, it may be too comfortable. But if you would like combine leisurely vacation and outdoor adventure, it should be the perfect choice. 4. Personal interaction: I’m deeply impressed by the guides’ skills, spirit, and energy. The guides all have one or multiple outdoor specialties. They control a fine balance between adventure and safety, and different participants’ levels and expectations, and available time and extra activities. They, during the entire trip, keep the group with a high spirit and under cozy atmosphere. Because the guides are extremely well trained for outdoor activities, they are able to spend extraordinary energy in arranging all activities and logistics. Such energy also reflects their unusual commitment to their job.

Thoroughly enjoyed our hikes and gelled together very quickly mindi g each other and having some great laughs under the leadership of our guide Ben. What can you say about this guy? Professional to the highest standard, a gentleman, made sure that he got to know everyone early on the trip, a wealth of knowledge of the region including the alpine flora (big thanks Ben for that). A great sense of humour which was needed with this group 🤣. He looked after us like family during our whole trip. Honestly this was such an amazing trip - so if you're reading this hesitating about whether or not to book, BOOK it. From start to finish we were incredibly well looked after by our brilliant guide David and the rest of the Nordic Ventures team. Everything was super well organised, with all equipment provided and plenty of support available when it came to learning how to kayak. We spent our days kayaking and hiking up to the snow-capped summit across from our campsite (the highlight was getting to see THE most incredible views of the fjords), and spent our nights chatting around the campfire. It was physically demanding at times, but just the right amount - it was a fun challenge that left us all feeling great and accomplished afterwards. It does get cold at night, so bring layers and PLENTY of socks (once you think you've packed enough, add some more). And be warned there is some fairly deep snow to get through when hiking. If you're vegan, pack your own snacks. Views and memories that I will treasure - thank you so much to the NV team :-)

We have just completed the great glen canoe trip with Amy and Sam, what an awesome adventure. A great set up with wonderful guides. They both gave us confidence and made us all feel at ease on the water. A lot of fun and giggles even when the weather was very…Scottish 😂 I would thoroughly recommend Good2go very attentive to everyones needs, both Amy and Sam are incredibly competent both on the water and catering for a group. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What an amazing trip! We were with the Good2go adventures team and our guides Sam and Amy were great! Friendly, knowledgeable and really put you at ease. This was my first canoe trip and I would highly recommend these guys.
