An incredible weekend at a purpose-built camp in a private woodland in Cornwall. Surfing and coasteering activities are delivered from central Newquay. Each of the sessions is two hours long and packed with adventure. It’s all about having fun in a relaxed environment, being guided & hosted throughout, while hanging out with like-minded folks.
You will meet your hosts, guides, and other adventurers on your weekend at our HQ bang in the centre of Newquay at 6:00 PM. Once the warm welcomes and introductions have been made, you'll drive in convoy to our Wild Camp, a 10-minute drive from the town.
If you are arriving by public transport, let us know and we can help arrange a lift with the instructors or other adventurers!
Once at the camp, it's pizza night and time to get to know everyone else on the weekend. It's a social affair, and we'll make sure you have time to grab a pizza and maybe a favourite drink before we leave.
After dinner, you then have the rest of the evening to become accustomed to camp living, sit around the fire, and relax.
After a camp breakfast of cereals, fruits, teas, and coffees you'll head back into Newquay for your first day of activities.
You'll meet your guide at 9ish for a short briefing before heading down to the beach for your surf lesson. Most people on the trip are beginners, but there is often an option for something a little more challenging, should you want to.
There will be plenty of time between activities to grab lunch, stroll around Newquay’s many surf shops, or head back to the base and hang out in the garden.
In the afternoon, you’ll take a short walk to our coasteering location, commonly known as the ‘Gazzle.’ Don’t worry if you aren’t confident in the sea; your guide will explain and demonstrate all the skills you need to have a fantastic time.
After a refreshing breakfast, you'll wave goodbye to the wild camp and head back to Newquay, jump into a wetsuit and hit the Cornish waves one last time.
Your second surf lesson builds on the previous day's experience – today is all about having fun in the surf!
By 1:00 PM, you'll typically all surfed out, and with your appetite for adventure satisfied it’s time to say fond farewells.

These retreats and weekends are open to any age. Predominantly booked by solo travellers, couples, and friends the average age ranges from early 30s to late early 50s. Under-18s are more than welcome so long as with an adult or consenting parent.
Our adventure weekends are perfect for taking a quick break, experiencing the best of Cornwall, meeting new people, and trying new activities. Led from start to finish by our incredible hosts, there’s always someone on hand. You'll be able to get tips on surfing or chat about travels around the campfire.
You’ll wild camp on untouched private land 11 miles outside Newquay. Bell tents are arranged in a tranquil woodland connected by festive banners and twinkle lights. Each bell tent sleeps 4 people. Air mattresses are provided: all you have to bring is a sleeping bag. There’s a composting toilet on site, gas showers, and fresh water is provided for washing up. But otherwise, you’ll be without facilities in the peaceful countryside.
Please see the inclusions and exclusions section above.
Start: You'll meet your guide in Newquay at 6:00 PM on Day 1 (Friday) of your itinerary. The address is 40 Fore Street, Newquay, Cornwall, TR7 1LP. End: Your trip will end at 1:00 PM on Day 3 (Sunday) of your itinerary, in Newquay.
2 x breakfasts are included for this trip. Your host will provide you with a basic breakfast of cereals and fruit on Days 2 & 3. This should be enough to keep you going until lunch. But if you're an extra hungry morning person, please bring some extra snacks along. Lunches and dinners are excluded in this trip. For lunches, Newquay has a range of restaurants for any budget. It also has a supermarket across the street from the surf shop. Given the diversity of food available in town, all diets can be accommodated including vegetarian and vegan. For dinners, you'll need to buy ingredients for cooking dinner at the camp. Simple is best, as you will be BBQing and cooking over the camp's open fire.
No, not at all. You don’t have to do any of the jumps if you don’t want to. You will always be given the option to challenge yourself, whether that is a small jump or large. But in no way will you have to do any part of the Coasteer that you don’t want.
Day 1: 2 hours of surfing, 2 hours of coasteering. In the evening, you'll head to your bell tents in the woods Relax, or play some woodland games from giant Jenga, and balance games to woodland swings. You can challenge the others to an axe-throwing contest and then gather around the campfire for dinner. Day 2: 2 hours of surfing. You are then free to find a restaurant with beach views for lunch with the team.
Depending on the sea state and your jumping ability you will given the opportunity to progress from small belly flops and medium sized jumps through to jumps of up to 26 feet.
The surf lesson begins with a briefing on beach safety and good beach practice. Then, it's onto an introduction to how to handle your surfboard, entering the water, and catching waves!
Yes! We've got our own private and showers and toilets available on the campsite.
Coasteering is a unique way to explore and be guided along the water level of the coastline. Coasteering incorporates wild swimming, low-level traversing, sluices, whirlpools, and deep-water cliff jumps. You’ll be wearing a wetsuit, trainers, buoyancy aid, and a helmet as you navigate your way around the Cornish coastline taking on various elements designed to raise your adrenaline.
The majority of weekenders are solo travellers looking for an exciting weekend away packed with laughs! It’s a weekend of having fun in a relaxed environment, being guided and hosted throughout, while hanging out with like-minded folks.
All trips on Skyhook are run by small, hand-picked local guiding companies. For this trip your guides run Cornish Wave, based in Newquay.
By booking through Skyhook you'll be joining a small-group trip. This can make it nice and sociable (you'll be added to a group chat after booking), and guarantees great value for money!
