This classic safari adventure is the perfect combo of three of Tanzania's most popular parks. Witness Tanzania’s largest concentration of elephants at Tarangire National Park, hunt for the big five in one of Africa’s seven natural wonders – Ngorongoro Crater, and spot some amazing birdlife and look out for tree-climbing lions at Lake Manyara National Park.
In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park, which is known for its huge baobab trees. Its sparse vegetation makes it a beautiful and special location, where up to 300 elephants can be found, looking for underground streams in the dry riverbeds. Migratory wildebeest, zebra and buffalo can also be seen crowding the shrinking lagoons. Here you will enjoy an afternoon game drive with a picnic lunch.
Today you’ll rise early to drive to Ngorongoro Crater (about 1.5 drive to the gate, depending on your accommodation). Descend the 600m high walls to explore the floor of the crater in your 4x4 and get up close with one of Africa’s seven natural wonders! Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ngorongoro is considered one of the most beautiful and unique places in Africa. Here you will find a haven of African wildlife. Look out for hippos wallowing amongst the flocks of flamingoes. You might also be lucky enough to see a Rhino!
In the morning, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, which is located within the Great Rift Valley. Lake Manyara boasts a spectacular setting, famous for its tree-climbing lions and soda-ash lake which covers about half the park. The vegetation here is very different to the open plains of Ngorongoro. Dense forest makes the perfect habitat for large troupes of baboons. The park also provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. The shores of the lake attract more than 400 species of birds, many of them waterfowl or migrants. In the afternoon, drive back to Arusha/Moshi or Kilimanjaro Airport.

All of the Skyhook Kilimanjaro trips have a final day as a 'departure day'. Unless you want a free day between Kilimanjaro and safari (in which case you will need to book an extra nights accommodation at an extra expense) you can start your safari on the final day of your Kilimanjaro trip. Eg. You have booked a 7-Day Machame Trek. You will start your safari on the same date as 'Day 9' of your Kilimanjaro trip. You can send us a message before booking to help you with planning. This means you will be picked up from Weru Weru River lodge first thing in the morning the day after you finish hiking. If it is very early, you can usually ask the lodge to pack you a breakfast.
Yes, just make sure you put your dietary requirements on your registration form which can be found at 'My Dashboard' on your Skyhook account.
Safaris are family friendly and kids from the age of 6 years are welcome.
Start: You will be picked up from your hotel in Moshi on day 1 of your itinerary. Time TBC (usually 6 AM). End: You will be dropped off in Moshi, or Kilimanjaro Airport at 7 pm on day 3 of your itinerary.
Many of the animals are completely habituated to vehicles and often walk right beside or between the Land Cruisers. Guides also communicate by radio to share interesting sightings. You are sure to get plenty of opportunities for good sightings and pictures! Note that in Tanzanian National Parks, safari vehicles may not leave the designated tracks or off-road to get closer to wildlife. This is an important law to protect the fauna and flora. Please always respect the rules of the park and listen to your guide's instructions.
It can be generally hot during the day, so sunhats, suncream, and sunglasses are recommended. In the morning and evenings, it can be a little cooler, so pack a sweater, fleece or jacket.
The food is prepared by the accommodation provider during the safari. You can usually expect several choices for dinner and breakfast as well as a packed lunch (chicken, chips, wraps, cookies, juice, fruit etc.) to take with to eat in the park during the day. If you have dietary restrictions, please advise us beforehand by filling out the Trip Form. There are snack trucks at some of the picnic stops from which you can purchase ice cream, sweets, cooldrinks and even coffee! It's easiest to bring cash in local currency (dollars and euros also widely accepted) for these extras.

We recommend you check with your travel doctor, and you can find more advice at http://www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk/home.aspx.
The average temperature is 25C in the day and 15C in the morning/evenings. We recommend bringing a fleece and waterproof jacket, although you'll spend most of the safari within the 4x4s which have closed sides so you can stay warm.
Unfortunately we do need a minimum of 2 people to open a safari trip. However, if there is an existing departure (perhaps others in your group who have climbed Kilimanjaro have booked a safari), you will be welcome to join that safari. Please drop us a message to find out more.
You may want to bring a small amount of money for tips and any souvenirs. We've found that card payments aren't always reliable in Tanzania so its good to have cash incase you need to pay for drinks etc.
Absolutely - just let us know which dates you want to go, and a member of our team will make all the arrangements for you.
All trips on Skyhook are run by small, hand-picked local guiding companies. For this trip your guides run Nyange Adventures, based in Moshi Town.
By booking through Skyhook you'll be joining a small-group trip. This can make it nice and sociable (you'll be added to a group chat after booking), and guarantees great value for money!
